My father hired Lew in the mid 1960’s in Binghamton and capably assisted my dad in running a Carvel Ice Cream franchise along with the Dog House Restaurant. My father’s business interests took him to Elmira, where he purchased the Dixie Barbeque in Southport in the mid 70’s.. Lew managed it for him, and took ownership in the early 80’s. While my dad owned the Dixie, I worked summers there, and got to know Lew a little bit. I enjoyed working with him. My condolences to the family. Bruce Shedden, Fairport, NY.
