Lynn McCleary Doane
Horseheads, NY,
Passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at home.  He was born on March 6, 1934 in Elmira, NY, son of the late Harley J. and Gladys Gould Doane. Lynn is predeceased by the love of his life, Janet Dandrea Doane in 2010 to whom he was married for 54 years. He is survived by his present wife, Janice Anvoots Doane. Also survived by his children, Ronald (Linda) Doane, Timothy (Janine) Doane and Patrick (Stacy) Doane; grandchildren, Beth (Rob), Joe (Stacy), Harley (Allison), Corbin (Alison), Brianne, Bryce; great grandchildren, Isabel, Oliver, Benjamin, William, Brayden, and Ellie; brothers, Terry (Mary Lynn) Doane, Gary (Martha) Doane and Bruce (Lucy) Doane; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He began his railroad career with the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad (DL&W). He later became a freight conductor and retired after 40 years with Conrail. He was a master carpenter and took pride in his workmanship and working with his hands. Lynn’s love for cars began at a very young age and continued throughout his life. His last project was a 1928 Ford street rod. Lynn enjoyed gatherings and decades of family reunions at “the farm at Doaneville”. Relatives and friends are invited to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 115 W. Hill Rd., Elmira, NY on Saturday, September 5, 2020 between the hours of 10am and 11am.  As all are welcomed, we will be adhering to NYS regulations for social distancing. Funeral Service will be held at 11am with his nephew, Timothy Cowell presiding. He will be laid to rest along side his wife, Janet at Tioga Point Cemetery immediately following. Those wishing to remember Lynn please consider donations to his church.

So sorry for your loss. John and I had some really good times together. He was right there to help after John has his stroke. He will be missed.
