Passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the age of 69. She has born on April 25, 1950, in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Lepere Bazyk. Sandy was a graduate of Nazareth College and John Jay College and was employed as a Director of Probation with Chemung County. After retiring she enjoyed being a docent at the Corning Museum of Glass for several years. Sandy also served on the Board of Directors for Glove House, a not-for-profit corporation serving youth and families who have experienced crises and trauma. Above all, Sandy was devoted to her family and friends. She was an excellent baker and cook and known for her generosity with family, friends, and those in need. She was a loyal friend to many. Sandy is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mark Mentuck; son Mathew Mentuck; grand-dog, Ruby; siblings Mary Anne (Marty) Baldwin, John (Susan) Bazyk and Patricia Cantando (Julie Campbell) and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY, on Thursday, September 12, 2019, from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, NY, on Friday, September 13, 2019, at 10 AM with Rev. Christopher Linsler. She will be laid to rest at St. Peter and Paul’s Cemetery immediately following.
