of Binghamton, passed away peacefully Friday morning, September 10, 2010 at her daughter’s home, two days shy of her 93rd birthday. She was the daughter of the late, Carlton and Melissa Devine Russell. Betty is predeceased by her loving husband, Clyde VanWormer and sister Dorthy Russell. She is survived by her daughters, Betsy (Jack) Kent of Horseheads, NY and Amy Nicholson of Newark, NY; grandchildren, Vann (Lindsay) Nicholson of Charlotte, NC, Melissa Nicholson of Hicksville, NY, Amanda (Jesse) Hoobler of Saratoga Springs, NY and Matthew (Tammy) Kent of Ontario, NY; great grandson, Conley Nicholson; cousin Charlotte Quick; sisters-in-law, Doris VanWormer and Phyllis VanWormer; nieces, Lisa (Martin) McLaughlin and Teri Felt all of Syracuse, NY; “third daughter” Margie Sedor and many wonderful friends. Betty graduated from Skidmore College and Syracuse University with a degree in Nursing. She was a life-long member of the CAFB Church and a long time member of The Women’s Republican Club.\nThe family will welcome relatives and friends at her Memorial Service at the Conklin Avenue First Baptist Church, 269 Conklin Ave., Binghamton, NY on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 1PM followed by a gathering of friends in the Fellowship Hall.
