GENOVESE, Joseph Age 90 of Horseheads, NY, peacefully passed away on December 8, 2016. Joe was born April 5, 1926 in Johnstown, a son of the late, Philip and Josephine Ruggeri Genovese. He is pre-deceased by his loving wife, Joan Genovese; son, Phillip A. Genovese; brothers, John and Louis Genovese; brother-in-law, Ben Licciardi and nephew Sam Licciardi. Joe is survived by son, Joel (Kathy) Genovese; grandchildren, Mia (Scott), Ann, Sara (John), Marisa and Alexander; great grandchildren, Luca, Grayson and Rowan; sister, Margaret Licciardi; daughters-in-law, Chong Genovese and Lisa Panzarella; nieces, Roseanne (Gordy) Duross, Kathy (Greg) Leibowitz, and Debbie (Rich) VanNostrand and several cousins and extended family members. Joe served his country honorably with the US Navy during WWII as a Coxswain, he was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church, serving many years as an usher, and was twice the Exalted Ruler of the Horseheads BPOE #2297 and DDGER. He was a longtime Barber in Elmira Heights and was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Joe was an avid reader, gardener, cook, Yankee and Giant fan and an avid wine maker. He and Joan cruised the world making friends and memories everywhere they went. The family will welcome relatives and friends on Monday, December 12, 2016 at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, NY to pay their respect from 9-10 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held immediately following with Rev. Christopher Linsler. He will be placed in the Columbarium Wall at Woodlawn National Cemetery with Joan immediately following with military honors.
