Joseph J. Grabowski\nElmira, NY\nPassed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the age of 99. Joseph was born on July 20, 1922, the son of the late John and Dealia Materne Grabowski. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara Shaw Grabowski, all his siblings, son-in-law, Stephen Cardamone, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Grabowski. He is survived by his children, Pamela Hoffman (Kenneth) Lewis, Carol Cardamone, and Thomas (Lisa) Grabowski; grandchildren, Kim (Bryan) Woodworth, Corey (Kim) Bourgeois, David (Jamie) Lewis, Shelly (Gary) Southard, Kristi Bourgeois, Kelly (James) Spivey, David Walters, Stephen (Amy) Cardamone and Scott (Shelly) Cardamone; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and a host of friends. Joe retired from the US Postal Service after 37 years as a sorter. He also served his country honorably with the US Air Corp. serving in WWII. He was an avid golfer, was proud of his Polish heritage, a University of Notre Dame fan and was "the luckiest guy in the whole world". Faith was always important to Joe as he was a life-long communicant of St. Charles. Nothing made Joe happier than being with his family and celebrating life's milestones. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan's Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St., at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 11-1PM. As all are welcome, we will be adhering to all NYS regulations and social distancing. Joe's Funeral Service will follow at 1PM with Fr. Scott Kubinski. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family would like to express special thank you's to Kim and Bryan Woodworth, for the care they extended to Joe after the passing of Barb. As well as special thanks to Laurie Sweeney, the staff of Woodbrook, and Catherine DeMember and staff at Chemung County Nursing Facility.
