LENCKI, Nina Emma of Horseheads, NY, danced her way into Heaven Saturday, June 10, 2016 at the age of 100, due to complications of her best feature; her heart. Nina was an early Christmas gift to her parents George and Rose Kahrs, as she was born on December 24, 1916 in Brooklyn, NY. Nina met and married the love of her life, John, and began raising their three daughters in Brooklyn where she often spoke of being able to see the Statue of Liberty while washing dishes from her kitchen window. With the opening of the A&P plant and hopes of wide open spaces, the family later moved to Horseheads, NY. Nina was always the life of the party, loved to travel and meet new people. She was an avid dancer and belonged to The Elmira Heights Senior Center, The Senior Center Dance Group in Ithaca, and the Analon Dance Group. She also spent much of her time volunteering with RSVP. Her family was blessed to learn many valuable lessons from her, including the importance of keeping a positive outlook on life, how to play dirty word Scrabble, and that after a while... Sprite tastes just like Champagne! Nina is survived by her Daughters Joan Greene of Puyallup, WA, Linda Del Priore of Horseheads, NY and Nina (Bill) Curry of Nashville, TN as well as Grandchildren Debi (Pete) Yankeh of Sumner, WA, Bruce (Kara) Curry and Lynn Crawford of Nashville, TN, Great-Grandchildren Lindsay Walters of Washington, DC, Griffin, Wyatt and Oliver Curry and Jonas Crawford of Nashville, TN and longtime special companion, Harold Henry of Horseheads, NY. She is now catching up with many loved ones in Heaven including her husband John, of 42 years, brothers George, Russell, and Charlie Kahrs and sons-In-Law Neil Greene and Allen Del Priore. A celebration of Nina's life will be held at The Courtyards at Bethany Village, 3005 Watkins Rd., Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 2 PM. Nina will be laid to rest beside her late husband at St. Mary Our Mother's Cemetery in Horseheads, NY at the convenience of the family. Nina and her family are extremely grateful to the staff and medical professionals at Bethany, as well as to Dr. Brian Cassetta and his office and medical staff, for the care and compassion they so graciously extended to her. In lieu of flowers please consider contributions to Horseheads Fire & Rescue Co., 134 N. Main St., Horseheads, NY 14845 in her memory. Condolences and words of comfort may be expressed in Nina's Book of Memories at www.sullivansfuneralhome.com. "When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way."
